Pairing:  S/X.

Warning: none really unless you are bothered by two cute boys smooching.

Disclaimer: All things BtVS belongs to Joss Whedon (my god), Mutant Enemy, etc.  I own nothing, so please don't sue me.  I just want to play with the yummy beings that Joss created.

Author's Notes: This is just a little piece of fluff that popped in my brain when I was going over lyrics for another S/X piece that is driving me crazy. I may end up doing silly little fics for all the songs on this album.  You don't know!  It could happen!

AN2: This is my first S/X fic so please be kind.

AN3:  Oh yea.  The song is 'Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps' by Cake.  A great band you should check out if you haven't heard them yet.

A special thanks to my sis, Stephanie who is betaing for me.  You're the best!

Xander was mad.and confused.and mad!  Spike had left the bathroom a mess again.  The brunette had asked him time and time again not the leave the towels on the floor and clean out his razor when he was done.  Spike claimed that master vampires do not pick up after themselves and he most certainly did not borrow Xander's razor.  Xander simply snorted at the blonde.  He could deny it, but the young man knew the truth.  Spike shaved his chest.

How had he come across this startling information?  Xander watched.  That's what he did.  He noticed things no one would.  Like the fact that just last night, Spike had a light dusting of soft blonde hair sticking out of the tempting V of his half buttoned black silk shirt and this afternoon when he left, it was as smooth and silky looking as a baby's bottom.

Not that Xander spent all his time looking at Spike's chest.  No, he divided his time equally between Spike's chest, eyes and ass.  Not that he would tell anyone that.

As the young man began to pick up the four damp towels strewn across the bathroom, he began to replay the conversation he and the vampire had just had about said bathroom.  Not that he would have called it a conversation by any stretch of the word.  It was a fight.  A knock down, drag out fight over four towels and a dirty razor.

He didn't understand how it happened, but it was happening a lot more lately.  When Spike first moved in, everything had gone well.  They hung out, watching TV and shared a beer here and there.  Basically, they were getting along really well.  They could almost be called friends.

But lately they seemed to be at each other's throats all the time.  It started about two weeks ago when they were watching movies.  Spike had talked Xander in to watching 'Strictly Ballroom' and Xander had spent most of the movie teasing the blonde about wanting to watch a movie about ballroom dancing.  But he was surprised to discover that he actually liked the film.  It was funny and exciting.  The final scene made Xander almost want to take dancing lessons again.

Almost.

He had enjoyed the time he and Anya had spent learning to dance for the wedding, but now that the wedding was off, he was afraid he would never be able to use the learned skills unless one of the girls got married.

But somehow during the movie, the two men had moved from their designated sides of the couch and were sitting so close that their shoulders were touching.  At the sappy ending, Xander turned to thank Spike for picking out a fun movie when he realized how close they really were.  They froze, just staring at each other until Spike said, "Can I kiss you?"

"Maybe" Xander said straight faced before he got up and walked into his bedroom and shut the door.

That seemed to upset the vampire and from that night on, their relationship was, in short, strained.

Three times since that night, Spike had pinned Xander down at the most inopportune times to quietly ask for a kiss.  Each time, Xander said maybe and quickly walked away.

It seemed like tonight Spike had finally had enough of the brunette's cryptic responses.

Xander sighed as he tossed the towels in the hamper and walked into his bedroom to change.  He was supposed to meet the gang at the Bronze, but for some reason he didn't want to go anymore.

When they had first made the plans, Xander was excited.  He had bought some new leather pants and he was ready to show them off.  Unfortunately, it just didn't seem as much fun knowing that Spike wouldn't be there.

<Did I really just think that?> Xander wondered.  <Now I'm pining over the absence of Spike.  And I'm using words like pining!>

The brunette fingered the pants softly, debating whether or not to wear his newest acquisition.

"Fuck it" he said out loud to no one and quickly pulled on the form fitting pants and the soft, cashmere sweater he bought to go with it.

Xander sauntered over to the table full of girls waiting for him.

"Hubba hubba" Dawn teased as she eyed the male Scoobie walking toward her. The other females turned and saw the young man heading their way and began to whistle and throw catcalls at him.

Xander ducked his head in embarrassment at the response.  He felt good about himself for once, but it was quickly thrown aside when he realized that his vampire was no where to seen.

<My vampire?> he thought in surprise.  <What the hell?>

As he sat down next to Willow, he smiled shyly.  "What's going on, ladies?" he asked, trying to be nonchalant.

"Nothing 'til you came in" Dawn said, smiling from ear to ear.  "What did you do, raid Angelus' wardrobe?"

Willow snickered at the question before trying to hide it by taking a quick sip of her drink.

Xander just shook his head.  "Just thought I'd give something new a try" he answered quietly.

The teenager leaned over to whisper in the young man's ear, "It doesn't have anything to do with a certain blonde vampire, does it?"

Xander's chocolate eyes shot up to look at the girl smiling next to him. She had a knowing smirk on her pretty face.  Xander simply smirked back.

Suddenly the music changed and Xander looked around.  "What's going on tonight?" he asked.

"They have been playing dance music all night" Buffy answered.  "We've been waiting for you to get here.  We needed a big, strapping man to come and sweep us off our feet."

The brunette smiled as he recognized the beat as a rumba, one of the dances he could actually do well.  He wished his original dance partner was available, but no one knew where Anya was.  She had taken off shortly after they parted ways and Spike moved in.  So Xander smiled at his second choice and asked Dawn, "Do you wanna dance?"

The teenager smiled and took the older man's hand and began to drag him to the center of the dance floor.  As they assumed their positions, Xander let himself feel the rhythm and he let his body move as it was trained.  Dawn quickly followed suit and the two were soon gliding across the dance floor.

When the lyrics of the song began, Xander froze.  He knew that voice, but couldn't believe what he was hearing so he turned his head to stare at the stage.  His mouth fell open in shock.  On the stage stood Spike, looking hot as ever in a very nice pair of black trousers and a tight silky shirt that shone in the spotlight.  He listened to the lyrics in shock.

//You won't admit you love me And so How am I ever To know You only tell me Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps

A million times I ask you And then I ask you over Again You only answer Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps//

As Xander moved with the small brunette in his arms, he was surprised to note that the vampire's eyes tracked his every move.

<Is he singing to me?> he wondered.

"Well, duh you big doofus" Dawn said to her shocked partner.

"Did I just say that out loud?" Xander asked.  He got his answer when Dawn just smiled and nodded toward the stage as they continued their dance.

//If you can't make your mind up We'll never get started And I don't wanna' wind up Being parted, broken hearted

So if you really love me Say yes But if you don't, dear, Confess And please don't tell me Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps//

Dawn reached over and pushed up the male Scooby's chin to close his jaw that had been hanging open.  "What is going on?" he asked her once he was able to focus on her again.

"Don't be dumb, Xander" she chided.  "You two have been flirting and hitting on each other for weeks now.  Don't tell me you haven't noticed?"

"Maybe" he answered quietly as he turned her so he could see the blonde singing to him even better.

//If you can't make your mind up We'll never get started And I don't wanna' wind up Being parted, broken hearted

So if you really love me Say yes But if you don't, dear, Confess And please don't tell me Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps//

As the song came to an end, Xander turned the teenager around in a circle and then smiled down at her.

"How long have you known about this?" he asked her.

"About you and Spike or about tonight?" she smiled innocently.

"About tonight."

"Only since this afternoon" she said sweetly.  "No one else knows but me and Spike.  He came over after you spurned his advances and we began planning your seduction."

"That's enough of that kind of talk out of you young lady" Xander scolded playfully.  "I can't believe."

He stopped as he felt a tap on his shoulder.  He turned to look straight into the sparkling blue eyes of his.friend?  The music changed and the sultry sound of a lusty tango began to play.

"Can I have this dance, luv?" Spike whispered quietly as he leaned in so close that Xander thought he could almost feel the vampire's non-existent breath on his lips.

Xander smiled wickedly and answered, "Perhaps".
